Quilting 101: Jelly Roll Race Quilt Top

  • niche creative studio 4706 Common Street Lake Charles, LA, 70607 United States (map)

Have you been wanting to learn how to quilt?  Grab some friends and get signed up for our fun Quilting 101 class.  This class is perfect for beginner  sewists and quilters and those who are self-taught and want more of a technical, in-depth look at quilting.  Bring your machine or use on of ours. For this class, we will create a jelly roll race quilt top! This quilt top is fun and easy to assemble.  We will also cover basic piecing and construction.

Sunday, January 27: 1-4pm

$35 plus supplies

Students may bring their own jelly roll, or specify one of the following options at least two days before class so a kit can be prepared.

1. Solid Bright Rainbow Jelly Roll

2. Solid Pastel Rainbow Jelly Roll

3. Mixed Art Gallery Prints Jelly Roll

There is a bit of a light-hearted competitive edge to this pattern, as students are encouraged to breeze through and not overthink this quilt. Anticipation builds and we sew faster to "race" to the finish before anyone else.

Previous Experience:

Adults and youth ages 16 and up are welcome to this class.  Basic sewing experience is a plus for this class.

Additional Info:

We will have scissors, measuring tape and other items for you to use during class.

If you have a sewing machine at home (like that one you got for Christmas that's still in the box), bring it with you.  It's always good to get practice and learn the machine you'll be sewing on. These classes are small and are geared toward one-on-one instruction and focus.

The best part about camps, classes & parties at Niche Creative Studio is that by the end you have some super cute items that you created yourself and the know-how to do it again anytime! Once you have signed up, we will send any special instruction or supply lists.

Please see our Classes page to review Class Payment & Cancellation policies.
